Palin Inciting Violence?

So I’m cruising through Drudge a few moments ago, and come across this story:

“When Sarah Palin uses gun analogies and gun imagery when she makes her political point, she may believe that she’s engaging in metaphor. But there are too many people who have twisted minds who might think that she’s being literal,” said Weiner.

Has Weiner been paying attention? Has he forgotten the years of enduring hateful attacks against George W. Bush, Dick Cheney? Including literally encouraging our enlisted soldiers to fire on their superior officers? How about the late-night ‘comedy’ routine showing crosshairs on the President saying “Snipers Wanted?”

And don’t even mention the hateful, personal attacks against Gov Palin herself, and her family. Perhaps Mr Weiner has forgotten the sexist remarks, and the accusations that Palin isn’t even a woman, because she holds conservative views.

Now that being said, I agree that threats, vandalism, and violence are not welcome in our political discourse. Anyone found perpetrating these acts should be prosecuted in accordance with applicable laws. No matter who they are or what ‘side’ they claim to represent. And the rest of us need to make certain that we make those advocating such attacks as unwelcome as possible.

I think the Democrats are trying to play this up as much as they can to their own PR advantage, even to the point of making money off the situation.

What say we just all calm down, and we’ll sort this out where we need to, in the arena of ideas and within the law.
