Politics, Firearms, and things that amuse me

Very Telling

At the recent Nuclear Convention, Freedom’s Lighthouse captures the following video of remarks made by President Obama.

“Whether we like it or not.”

I think this says a lot about the man we elected to be president. Many have said that the liberal left looks at the United States, and the United States Military specifically as a source of trouble and evil in the world. I think Obama using those words confirms that is exactly the way he, at least, feels about it.

There is no excuse for this. Yes, we use our military, but we do not use it to conquer territory. We go to great pains as a matter of policy to do as little damage as necessary when the use of force becomes necessary. Often times, in the name of doing the right thing, we will let high-value targets go if it appears that engaging them will endanger too many non-combatants.

Is there any doubt that had we could have totally wiped out any opposition in Iraq or Afghanistan in very short order if there was no concern about innocent civilian life? The world has not seen the full might of our military since the 1940s. And for what it’s worth, I honestly hope there is no occasion to show it again.

But, in the mind of our Imperious Doofus, it seems almost like a sad thing that the United States has the best military forces the world has ever seen. I suspect that if he gets his way, he would do much to change that, by cutting defense spending, cancelling development of new programs. Not to mention his constant bowing, scraping, and apologizing for the rest of us to the rest of the world. Well, the rest of the world except for our allies and friends, such as Great Britain and Israel.

The sooner we can blunt his power and vote him out, the better off we will all be.
