Captain KickAss: Oil Spill Just like 9/11

with one comment

The Imperious Doofus, a.k.a., Captain Kickass, really needs to keep the teleprompter loaded and the oil wiped off the screen.

From the UK DailyMail:

He said that just as the events of September 11, 2001, had profoundly shaped ‘our view of our vulnerabilities and our foreign policy’, so the oil disaster would shape thinking on the environment and energy for years to come.

Yes, the Deepwater Horizon disaster is just like the worst terrorist attack on American soil ever, except for the deliberate airplanes-into-buildings part, and that the oil leaking is about an entire mile underwater (thanks in large part to the environutballs who like driving their trust fund BMW’s as long as they don’t actually SEE the oil rig providing fuel for it), yeah, they really seem comparable to me.

Yes, I see what Obama is saying; a first-of-its-kind catastrophic event will often make everyone involved in any segment of the environment that event happens in will make everyone step back and think twice about how, when, and why things are done in a certain way and look for ways to improve them.

But dammit, I am sick of the Greatest Orator Of Our Time(tm) having to have idiot nobodies like me have to look at things from a detached perspective and understand what he really meant. You know, I try to do that with everyone; if there was a Republican president that I really like that made the same verbal gaffe, I would want everyone to realize what was actually meant. Sooner or later, the shoe goes on the other foot, that’s the nature of the political game.

In all seriousness for a moment, lets not let things get out of control. BP did not intend for this to happen. Obama, the MMS, nor even that eeeeevil! Halliburton intended for this to happen. Number one, every gallon of oil that leaks out of that broken pipe is one gallon less that they have to sell (although I understand they are trying to sell what they are recovering; if it works, good for them! Make the spill pay for itself!), and one gallon more that they have to clean up. And one more gallon they have to pay out for claims when it damages wildlife ares, fishing area, and so on.

Obama and the government did not want this to happen, as this has been the hardest and most critical any press coverage has been of this White House. I’m sure he would rather they still be kissing his backside and bowing before him or something.

And I’m also realistic enough to understand that BP can’t just snap their fingers and shut it off. If they could do that, like they were supposed to be able to do with the blowout preventer thingy I’ve heard about, this would be a non-story except for the loss of life on the rig and the conspiracy theories citing Suicide Submarines from North Korea. Obama can’t do anything, other than try to get the tools, supplies, and personnel in place to deal with the aftermath. I sort of cut him a little slack, to be honest. I mean, “Gulf” sounds an awful like “Golf” to the untrained ear.

But let’s take a look at the last part of the quote from the Daily Mail once again, shall we?

so the oil disaster would shape thinking on the environment and energy for years to come.

There’s where the money is. The liberal/progressive/communist/control-freak Democrats want that environmental hogwash energy policy known as cap-and-trade almost more than they wanted Health Control to pass. (I think HC got top billing because they’ve been trying for so long.) Rhambo is famous for saying to never let a good crisis go to waste. And ta-daa! we have a crisis.

They know that their days of being able to do anything in Congress are numbered. That won’t stop them from trying if they see an opening. I think even more than Health Control, many of the Leftist imbeciles would gladly sacrifice their seats to get Crap & Betrayed passed. Most of them already know they are in trouble with the Health Control vote, so why not seal the deal, eh?

Please, people, don’t let the media, talking heads, Congressional blowhards, or even Cap’n Kickass himself make you believe that somehow regulating the carbon-dioxide output from your car and barbeque grill on your back porch is going help make sure that all the poor pelicans get the oil cleaned off them.

A very good rule of thumb, can be doubly applied here: View everything that is proposed from either the White House or any section of the Government as some kind of “solution” to the oil problem with extreme suspicion, making sure that everyone understands every word that is written into any possible bill. Keep the pressure up, and make sure everyone knows about any provisions they might want to slip into it. This is like hidden earmark pork-spending humor, except the stakes are much too high now.

They might have been able to get away with something on a smaller scale a few months ago. But now we know they are going for broke, letting it ride, balls out and hammer down, because they know they won’t have this chance again for decades, if ever. We must stop them now, and we must stop them in November from ever having this much power again.

And any Republican that decides they want to go along with anything that does not directly deal with safety, accident prevention, and cleanup of the spill but adds on more government control? Your butt is doubly targeted next time around.

  1. Hi James,

I just read your post, “Captain KickAss: Oil Spill Just Like 9/11” and I thought you might be interested in this video, http://www.newsy.com/videos/president-obama-s-oil-outlook/, since you talk about Obama’s handling of the oil spill and other legislation that may come about because of this oil spill. Like your post, the video looks at several different news sources which examine how Obama is dealing with the oil spill and what his plans for the future are. I hope you will consider embedding it in your post.

    Thank you,
    Leslie
