Markos Moulitsas: First Class Jackass

With breaking news coming fast and furious concerning the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona a short time ago, information is unreliable and unconfirmed. First reports are conflicting, some reporting Giffords was killed by the shooting, and now reports are she is in critical condition, in surgery, but still alive. I hope and pray she makes it, as well as any other injured victims. And prayers also for families of others killed.

In their overreaching zeal, however, some are quick to politicize this situation, even before the gunpowder residue settles. This is disgusting.

The first things I’m hearing are that Giffords district was one on Sarah Palin’s “Target” map, as one of the districts we wished to win at the ballot box last November. And the worst offender I’ve seen is Mister Daily Kos himself on his Twitter feed:

No, I’m not providing any links to this jerk, his site, or even telling you his actual Twitter handle. You want that, you find it. It’s not hard.

But if I ever have the misfortune of meeting this jackass in person, there will be no doubt exactly what my feelings for him are. And you can take that to the bank.

Everyone, calm down, lets let the police and doctors do their jobs. As I understand it, the gunman is in custody, and will be dealt with. Until then, again, lets pray for the families, and hope no others are harmed from this.

We don’t know who, or why, this gunman perpetrated these acts. Until we know that, no one, and I mean NO ONE, should be speculating as to his motives. He may have been a right-wing nut who took things too literally. He could also equally be someone who was just a freaking idiot who wanted to go out in a big way. WE DO NOT KNOW. And any comments posted here from anyone trying to do so before facts come out will be deleted.
